unnamed

As Christians, we have a tremendous responsibility given to us when the Lord blesses us with a child.  By doing so, He entrusts us with the responsibility of raising up that child in the way of the Lord and establishing early in his or her life a foundation built upon Jesus Christ.  We are taught in  Ephesians 6:4 to “ And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” And Proverbs 22:6 adds, “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”

A Child Dedication before the congregation is an opportunity for parents to publicly declare their intent to raise their child in a way that honors God and also give the child the opportunity to gain a personal relationship with Jesus. Child Dedication doesn’t impart salvation to a child.  Ephesians 2:8-9 reads: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” In many ways, a “child dedication” service is truly a “parent dedication” service, as parents publicly declare to raise their child in the faith until the child is old enough to make his or her own personal confession of Jesus. It’s also a time for family, friends, and the church body here at Candlelight to say we will support you as best we can.

1 Samuel 1:27-28 – “For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him. 28 Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord.”

How Do I have My Child Dedicated?

Child dedications take place during Sunday services. Dedications are available on the 2nd & 3rd Sunday of each month. If you are interested in having a child dedicated to the Lord during our Sunday Services, please fill out our online form and we will contact you soon.
