As a fellowship of believers in service before the Lord, we at Candlelight Christian Fellowship believe it is our responsibility to provide the best possible leadership in and for our small groups. Therefore, we have adopted the following policy.
All small groups are a part of the overall ministries of Candlelight and therefore we believe that all small group leaders should be members of Candlelight – in good standing.
However, exceptions will be as follows:
In the event of the temporary absence of the regular small group leader, a regular and active member of the small group may step into the role for up to two weeks.
If there should be a need for an alternative leader to step in for more than two weeks the following criteria must be observed:
- A regular attending member of said small group may be approved to temporarily lead the group, if they are active members of Candlelight, and have been pre-approved by the elder board for the temporary leadership role.
- A member of Candlelight, in good standing, who is not a member of the particular small group may be approved by the elder board, but must be a person who has shown to have a consistent agreement with Candlelight Doctrine, Philosophy of Ministry and its Mission Statement.
- A non-member of Candlelight and of said small group may be approved by the elder board but must be a person who has shown to have a consistent agreement with Candlelight Doctrine, Philosophy of Ministry and Mission Statement, and who has been approved by the elders prior to the leadership role in the small group.
- A former member, whom has left the fellowship in good standing, and has shown to have a consistent agreement with Candlelight Doctrine, Philosophy of Ministry and Mission Statement, may be approved by the elders for temporary leadership in the small group.
May the Lord bless each of us as we employ these standards! May He allow for greater and greater ministry opportunities as we faithfully serve one another in Jesus’ name!
